The east says it’s dawn
My mouth speaks a yawn
My bed clings to me and begs me to stay
~ “Princess Academy” by Shannon Hale
I stayed up late last night reading “Princess Academy” and now the first line from the book pretty much describes how I feel right now.
Tuesday was a day of free gifts, including this book. My husband is involved in a program to train reading specialists. On Tuesday he went to a workshop at Brigham Young University and brought home a bag full of books. Everyone involved in the workshop were given $100 credit and a chance to shop for children’s books in the book store.
Since everyone in the family likes to read children’s literature, we were all very happy to see the pile of books. DH will be taking them to school, eventually, after all the family members have had a chance to “review” them for him.
Also on Tuesday my hairdresser gave me a free bottle of shampoo. Then, I went to my local scrapbook store, “Scrappily Ever After,” where I was given a gift package of ribbons, brads and other fun little do-dads for purchasing a tidy pile of American Craft paper.

It was all pink, which is slightly out of character for me, but I hope to take a pile of photographs of my nieces and great-niece when I visit my mother and sister over Easter. Then I plan to use the photos to make a mini-album or two for my sister, sister-in-law, niece, etc., all the mothers of daughters in my family. This, alas, does not include me.
I haven’t seen any of them for months because every time we planned to visit during a holiday we came down with some unfortunate ailment or another that left us to sick to hold anything down, or too drained to chew. Since family events are all about the food, forcing ourselves to drive 250 miles to attend them seemed a little counter productive.
In honor of my give away Tuesday, and in connection to my Photo of the Day Challenge and another challenge for www.scrappintrends.com. I am going to host my own giveaway.
I have been charged with making a layout using three “secret words,” assigned to me by Joe of ScrappinTrends. My photo of the day will be used on the layout to illustrate the three words. I had a great time taking the photo, playing around with light and how it reflected on glass.
So, here is the challenge to you. If you can figure out the three words for my “secret word” challenge, based on the photo, I will send you part of my American Craft gift package. Here’s a hint. I have used all of the words in my blog today.
By the way, I have tried, really tried to take a photograph of my new haircut that doesn’t make me cringe. I took photos, my children took photos, but I still don’t like how I look in the photographs. There is something wrong with my camera; it adds 30 pounds to every photograph taken of me. This does not work with any other subject, just me. I think I need to go in and get it adjusted.

Wow! just offer something free and you really rack up the comments! I won't guess, but I am so jealous about the free books. I have a website for you and your paper loving friends. I was told about this site by a education subscription that tells us new and interesting sites to visit. This one has all things paper which I love! Sculptures, origami, etc. etc. They have tons of origami type paper designs to download for free. I love Akikusa-mon and fuji-mon. The url is http://cp.c-ij.com/english/3D-papercraft/help/index.html
